On my Recent visit to Istanbul I had the pleasure of dining at one of Istanbul’s most renowned restaurants Sunset Bar & Grill, and rightly so. Sunset sits on a hilltop in Ulus one of Istanbul’s trendiest areas and possesses an enviable location with phenomenal views overlooking the Bosphorus. The unbeatable view of Istanbul and high quality food explains the ever growing popularity of this restaurant. Sunset is a grand restaurant which offers both indoor and outdoor seating, despite the vastness of the restaurant Sunset still maintains a warm and friendly atmosphere. Not only are Sunset’s high standards visible through the breathtaking view and great food, but also by the consistent service, which in my view makes it one of the best if not the best fine dining restaurants in Istanbul.
Sunset offers a variety of cuisines: Mediterranean, Turkish cuisine, Sushi bar and “New Japanese Cuisine”.
What I had
To start we shared the Salmon Tartare with Wasabi Soy sauce and Yellowtail Sashimi with Yuzu Soy sauce. Having dined at the top Japanese restaurants worldwide, it’s fair to say this is the best yellowtail my mouth has encountered as of yet. It was mouth wateringly delicious, both myself and my dinner date were extremely impressed. Sunset Bar & Grill certainly boasts an exceptional Japanese cuisine. To follow we then treated ourselves to the Shrimp Tempura with Spicy Cream sauce and Shitake Mushrooms, which yet again exceeded expectations. For mains, being a pasta lover I succumbed to theLinguini and Baked Lobster with Tomato sauce which was good, however, being so impressed from the Japaense food I wish I had opted for a selection of sushi instead. My dinner date had a Grilled Sea Bass with sweet miso sauce which she thoroughly enjoyed. By this point we were full to the brim, but it wouldn’t be a complete review without dessert right?! So we made room for something sweet sharing the Crispy Chocolate Mousse with caramelized pecan nuts.
The beautiful view of the Bosphorus and Yellow Tail Sashimi.
