PONT ST

IMG_5174 copy

I recently met my friend who was in town for a couple of days for lunch at Pont St restaurant, after the buzz on social media I was intrigued to try it out and show her a new hotspot in our forever changing city. Pont St is located in the beautifully designed Belgraves Hotel, so I knew there would be no disappointments. It came to no surprise, that the restaurant owned a stunning and well furnished interior, which creates a sophisticated yet laid back vibe. Pont St are recognised for their seasonal produce, which is served with great presentation. The restaurant offers a small yet generous menu, this is one for fussy eaters! There’s something on the menu for everyone from free range chicken, pasta to coconut fish curry. It’s not often I mention whether the restaurant is child-friendly, but in this case I had the pleasurable company of my dinner dates daughter and the staff could not have been more hospitable.

What I had
To start, we shared the Salmon Tartare and Fried Squid, each were beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked. To follow, myself and my lunch date were both drawn towards the Coconut Fish Curry, again served with great presentation and the dish was extremely flavoursome, which doesn’t tend to always be the case in restaurants which serve such a mixed menu. Pont St also offer a children’s menu, where my cute lunch date opted for the Fried Chicken and Chips, which was delicious! Pont St please consider sharing this with the adults! For dessert, we shared the Salted Caramel Doughnut Balls, that Pont St kindly allow you to replace with nutella instead (this is one for all nutella lovers). If this wasn’t enough the doughnuts are  served with a side of vanilla milkshake! We also shared the Chocolate & Praline Fondant which is up there with one of the best Fondants, literally melts in your mouth!

LE CAPRICE

Wednesday 20 April 2016

Salmon and yellowtail sashimi with ponzu dressing and kizami wasabi at Le Caprice by Lucy Richards PhotographyOver the bank Holiday weekend, I finally dined at the infamous celebrity haunt, Le Caprice. Le Caprice is renowned for it’s classic menu which features our favourite British, European and American dishes, as well as its stunning timeless black and white interior, which is completed by a collection of photographs by the iconic photographer, David Bailey.  At first glance you can see why the restaurant has made such a name for itself, Le Caprice is everything you could imagine and more. Le Caprice is a sophisticated restaurant, yet also allows guests to enjoy their full menu at the bar for a more relaxed experienced. From 6.30pm onwards your dinner and drinks will be accompanied by their pianist. For Jazz lovers, if the food isn’t enough to get you there, every Sunday Le Caprice own a great Jazz night. Either way, Le Caprice is a highly recommended a visit.

What I had
As you’ve probably noticed by now, I always share my starters, to me it’s incomprehensible to understand those who don’t. This way there’s no food envy and you get a little taste of everything. To star,  my dinner date and I shared the Salmon and Yellow Tail sashimi, which was excellent by no means would you believe you we’re in a Modern European restaurant and the Isle of Mull scallops, which melted in your mouth. To follow, I had the Thai Baked Sea Bass, which was beautifully cooked with a flavoursome and not too overpowering sauce. Whilst my date had the Chicken alla Milanesse, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Both portions were extremely generous servings. For dessert we shared the D
ark Chocolate Cheesecake with Raspberry Ripple and Cru Virunga Chocolate Crunch Bar. Please note, the dessert menu changes weekly!
